That one also has the misfortune to have to compete with Christmas music.

I know Three Kingdoms is a beloved classic and I still love it but my god this latest round of chapters was a huge mess.

A two-chapter update of Pride & Prejudice that is small on paper but huge in drama.

One day I might remember to update the RSS feed correctly. But I wouldn't count on it.

You know, I've never thought of this till now, but I wonder if Darcy's letter isn't a bit of wish-fulfillment for socially awkward writer types. In real life, does writing someone a long email or letter ever actually work? 🤔 Yes, the letter serves the purpose of a plot dump, but I wonder if it isn't a bit of fantasy on Austen's part as well.

I agree that would be very on-brand for Austen. My biggest counter is that Darcy's only purpose in writing this letter is seemingly to clear up some confusion. He doesn't defend or apologize for his behavior outside of these two points, and I doubt he actually expects to see Elizabeth ever again.

So (spoilers!) it's hard to say that "fix things" was an intentional goal; but on the other hand, while Darcy doesn't know where the story is going, Austen certainly does.

That is true. Neither Elizabeth nor Darcy make a move towards each other after she leaves Rosings. I just wish life were so easy that you could just clear up a misunderstanding by writing a letter to someone. God knows I've tried...

I dunno, I feel like if you put in the effort to constructively lay out your feelings you should at least get some points for it.

I travelled to Manhattan this past week. I spotted wild bread (and a chicken bone) as I left my hotel one night. "I'll take a photo when I get back," I said. But when I returned, all had vanished.

I'm a little mad at myself, but I needed the reminder that much of wild bread's beauty is in its ephemeral, transitory nature.

One of the real beautiful things is that we can share this story (Its these stories that truly motivate my work and give me joy). Wild bread is indeed ephemeral but its audience seems ever-passionate. Congrats on catching a glimpse of bread in your own wild.

It's Friday night and you're not doing anything anyway, may as well catch up on Three Kingdoms.
