i don't know if this would help but it sounds like you want the effect to stay toggled on/off when you change pages, right? it might be worthwhile to look into localStorage, which can let values stay the same even after a page is refreshed. i don't know a lot about it but i've been practicing w/ it lately and it might be a potential solution! (feel free to ignore this if it's irrelevant lol)
